Flour~Sugar~Butter~Eggs & Love

This weekend I was able to catch up and visit with some very important friends. My first visit was with my girlfriend at her bakery on Sunday. It was GREAT seeing her and tasting the "new" products she offered. I love her and the bakery! Soon after, another friend (Bridezilla ) j/k, dropped in (SO ADORABLE) and we finalized her wedding cake order! I also will be making her favorite treat (fresh banana bars with cream cheese and walnuts) to have along side her candy station at the wedding! I rushed home to a luncheon- given by the neighbor girls & I for our dear friend, who had previously moved away since her husbands passing. This is my ex-neighbor who I would call and say, "meet me at the fence" and I would pass over my latest baking creations; cupcakes, pound cake, cookies & more! It's just not the same without her next door, but we talk/text every week. :-) All these friends were brought together through baking. A little flour~sugar~butter, eggs & love. Hope you have a terrific week!

Faux Fall it's back to Summer!

Today is Friday and it's getting a lot warmer. At the beginning of the week it felt like Fall, with cool breezes, a drop in temperature and a pumpkin sighting at the local pumpkin patch! Yes, the baby pumpkins are already sprouting up and are visible from the highway. I love this pumpkin patch in October- a sea of orange globes for miles on end! What a beautiful site. In October my favorite things to bake are; pumpkin bread, pumpkin bars, spice cupcakes and apple crisp. YUM YUM! Not only the taste, but the aroma of pumpkin or apples & cinnamon baking is delightful! I came across some Saigon Cinnamon from Penzy's and just love it. I have a little hint or words of wisdom for you at home bakers. When you find a recipe that comes out great and tastes great, MAKE A NOTE OF IT! I have tried so many recipes and wasted a lot of $$ on premium ingredients, especially chocolate. I have a handful of recipes that I swear by and have exchanged these with my neighbors, who also love to bake. This weekend I will be meeting up at the bakery for a wedding cake consultation and also have a friend (x neighbor) coming up to visit the neighbors on the block. I am really excited to see her! Have a great weekend!

Bake it-Frost it-Eat it!

Well, that used to be my mantra prior to baking 100's of cupcakes! These days I just Bake it & Frost it! I had my share of cupcake baking this week- for a friends wedding, my hubby's Team Appreciation, and a friends birthday. Speaking of friends-my best friend who owns a bakery in Danville, http://danvillebakery.info had major problems this weekend, her oven went out! Oh geez-poor thing! She's back on track now, but what a hectic weekend for her! I have had many people leave super nice comments in regards to the website. THANK YOU again! If any of you like mini pennants for cupcake toppers, check out this site (it's free) you just print and wrap around a pick! Super Cute & Super Easy! She is a very talented illustrator. Here's her site http://www.zazzle.com/candystore. Have a fabulous day!

Friday Bliss~

What a fabulous week! It has been super busy and exciting! I have been enjoying every minute of it (could not have been possible without the support of my dear hubby.) It sure beats the corporate world -doing something that I actually love & enjoy. The hours you invest just don't feel as stressful or draining. Not to say I don't miss the interaction with my friends on a daily basis, but they are only a email or text away! Hope you have a great weekend, get out and say hello to your neighbors while the weather is nice! I will be out on my neighbors driveway with the other neighbor girls and their children, laughing and talking about the "news" in our town.
Talk to you soon!
